Lara Dutta to Marry Mahesh Bupathi

It is final for now that India's ace tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi is getting married with Lara Dutta in a plush hotel in Goa on Feb 19.

Bhupathi, who is now here, recently divorced Shweta Jaishankar, to resume his second innings in conjugal life, media reports said on Thursday.

Both Lara and Mahesh love Goa and they have decided to spend their holidays there to make the wedding memorable.

Earlier, Lara was in serious relationships, first with Kelly Dorje and then with Dino Morea.

Lara Dutta's New Look

Hot actress Lara Dutta is on an experimenting spree these days. She is currently shooting for Farhan Akhtar's 'Don 2' in Berlin. And, for this flick not only are the dresses getting shorter but the mane is being trimmed too! The hairstyle for the season is to keep it short, manageable and neat. Sources say Farhan Akhtar is so much excited about his upcoming 'Don 2' that he has asked Lara to be careful because she is sporting a new look and Farhan doesn't want to make it public as yet. Farhan believes that Lara Dutta's presence is meant to be the surprise package of 'Don 2'. For her role she has gone in for a complete makeover.

Incidentally, Akshay Kumar has not only agreed to do a cameo in Lara Dutta's first home production 'Chalo Dilli' under her banner Bheegi Basanti, he has sprung a surprise on Lara by shooting for almost 20 hours at a stretch in Jaipur in spite of having to work around the clock. Thus, he saved Lara the production cost by completing his two-day shoot in one day. Significantly, Akki has done the cameo without any professional fee. The film also stars Vinay Pathak in the lead role.

Actors Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta had struck up a friendship on the sets of their first film together Andaaz way back in 2003, when in true hero-style Akshay had saved the actor from drowning during a scene.

And the two have been pretty pally ever since. In fact, according to an insider, even on the sets of their last release — Houseful — it was Akshay, Riteish and Lara who bonded the most.

For Kumar, Dutta’s always been one of the boys, while Lara considers Akshay to be her lucky mascot.

So, when Dutta recently plunged into production with Challo Dilli, she was keen to have Kumar do a cameo in her film. And Kumar, inspite of his hectic schedules, obliged. Says a source, “Akshay was really busy on the dates that Lara had approached him for, but he sorted out the dates with his producer to make time for her. Akshay and Lara hold each other in high regard.”

Touted to be a comedy, the film is being directed by Shashant Shah (of Dasvidaniya fame) and see Lara opposite Vinay Pathak.

Lara Dutta to act in DON 2

Lara Dutta plays Shah Rukh Khan's moll in Don 2, the role Eesha Koppikhar played in the original. Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra encores the leading lady's role.

Icy winds blew across Germany's capital city the minute Priyanka landed. Says a source, "Lara was already there a week before Priyanka.

An insider reveals, "The two barely exchanged hellos with frosty smiles before directing their warmth to Shah Rukh and director Farhan Akhtar."

The two beauties have a history. They were crowned Miss World and Miss Universe the same year. They started their careers in Andaaz.

And though Lara (playing a grieving widow, if you please!) had the author-backed role, it was Priyanka who waltzed away with the stardom and the plum assignments with Akshay Kumar.

Ever since, Dutta has steered clear of offers to work with the actress. She was hesitant to sign on for Don 2.

It was only when Farhan assured her that her role would be fleshed out that she agreed to be part of the film.

Also lead actor SRK, has a soft spot for Mahesh Bhupathi's new fiance ever since she agreed to act in his home production Billu a part every actress in town had refused.

Even without their past differences, things between them were never going to be easy. When any two actresses shoot together, there is always stress.

They worry about who has the better room, better fee, better clothes, better scenes... the list is endless.

Naturally, Priyanka was already wary, edgy and exhausted when she arrived in Berlin a week after her former friend and now fierce rival, had already gotten comfortable with the unit. Lara clearly has a headstart.

The fact that they have unequal roles, is reason enough for them to be suspicious of each other. One has been promised the "leading lady" part and the other, "an important role."

The insecurities have already surfaced with the two ladies choosing to remain in their own corners for as long as possible.

Says a close friend of Priyanka, "To begin with, their roles are unequal. If you see Esha Koppikhar's role in Don you'd know what Lara is playing."

Priyanka has had a very stressful ad shoot and dubbing, which had to be completed in two days. In addition, there was a section of the industry trying to demolish her performance in Anjaana Anjaani.

Actor Lara Dutta has become the new face of PETA’s Go Vegetarian campaign. The actor recently shot for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) wearing a Gavin Miguel dress made of lettuce leaves and other vegetables.

The former-Miss Universe says, “Even seemingly small choices can have a big impact on our health, our community and the world around us,” she says. “Going vegetarian is one of the easiest ways to improve our health, help countless animals and protect the earth.”

An official from PETA informs us that the ‘going vegetarian’ campaign roots for anti-meat drive as the meat industry causes animal suffering on a massive scale. Figures indicate that many animals are subjected to torture as chickens are crowded by the thousands into dark sheds that reek of ammonia from the accumulated waste in which the animals are forced to stand.

Other animals like birds, goats, sheep, pigs, even cows and other animals are crammed in a small place and killed painfully. The organization also suggest that cruelty towards fish is on the rise as on the decks of fishing boats, fish are often cut open while they are still alive.

The organization debates that people who follow a plant-based diet have lower rates of heart disease, strokes, cancer, diabetes and obesity than meat-eaters. Meat production also consumes far more water, land and other natural resources than producing vegetarian foods.
