When the Clean & Clear Bombay Times Fresh Face 2010 contest hit Khalsa college, the response was, in a word, tremendous! Such was the buzz that students thronged to fill up participation forms hours before the event started.Cheers greeted the celebrity judge Nauheed Cyrusi and the Bombay Times judge who definitely had their work cut out for them, for choosing a winning and runner-up pair would prove to be no easy task indeed.
The contest got off to an 'artistic' start with Reshma, choosing to express her talent via the medium of painting. Another student, Siddhant, performed a stirring rendition of an Indian Ocean song. Aakash Prabhakar then, headed to the stage to show his moves and proved to be a great dancer. However, he made it a point to compliment the lovely Nauheed, before starting on his routine. No doubt, it would have scored brownie points with the judge!
Divya Sasidharan did a lovely Indian classical dance while Prasad Patwardhan was simply superb with his talent 'beatboxing'. He went on to prove how versatile he was when he even proceeded to imitate the sound of race car engines revving up. Then he gave us all a sampling of his bhangra and hip hop vocalisations. Moving on, Esha Bhivandiker was both sexy and fun with her dance and Nitin Menon, too, was fluid in his steps. Truly, they were all so talented, but it was a few who had that certain something extra. It was a close call, but the graceful Kaavya Gupta and Siddharth Pillai were declared the winners, while Tisha Shah and Aakash Prabhakar were adjudged to be the runners-up! Much cheering followed, but perhaps the happiest thing that was said, was one of the winners, excitedly telling someone on the telephone, 'Main jeet gayi!'
